MEC for Arts, Culture Sport and Recreation (ACSR) Mme Galebekwe Virginia Tlhapi is expected to host the fourth annual dialogue sessions with “Matlhaku a maloba” (Bahumagadi and the Elderly) in all the four Districts of the Province.
The dialogue sessions will today, 7 November 2019, be in the Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, in Mamusa.

Bahumagadi is a structure of Wives of Dikgosi and Older Persons Forum which was formed to give support of hope and empower such women. The event seeks to bring back the traditional practices and humility that our older persons possess and educate the young generations through social cohesion. The aim of the dialogue session is to engage on issues affecting our communities such as social cohesion, nation building as well as culture, tradition and social ills.
This is also aligned with the South African National 2019 older persons theme that says “grandparents are pillars of families”.
Furthermore, the programme seeks to address the concept of educating the youth about preserving cultural practices and respect of our traditional differences. Also encourages the elderly people not to keep wealth of knowledge and wisdom to themselves but to impart it to younger generation.
The Department is also committed to achieving priorities set out by the Province which amongst others is to encourage healthy living. Aerobics and health screening will be conducted on the day with special focus to senior citizens.
