A 41-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Itsoseng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 04 November 2019 on a charge of rape following an incident that happened at Driehoek Village near Itsoseng.  The suspect was arrested on Sunday, 03 November 2019.

According to Police Spokesperson in the North West Province, Captain Sam Tselanyane , it is alleged that during the night of Friday, 01 November 2019, the suspect was in the company of a 47-year-old woman and her boyfriend from a local shebeen.  Tselanyane also says that, allegedly, the suspect intervened after a fight ensued between the woman and her boyfriend.  It is not clear at the moment what happened after the fight except that the suspect forcefully took the victim to her residential place where he allegedly raped her.

“Consequently, on Saturday, 02 November 2019 at about 06:30, police were called to a scene of crime where the body of Baliki John Selobane (49) was found lying in a pool of blood near the front door of a certain house in Driehoek.  The victim’s body was found with stab wounds on the neck and ribs.” Confirmed Tselanyane.

Police are currently questioning the suspect for possible linkage with the alleged murder of Selobane.  Investigation into the matter continues.
