Dithejane on target as Chicago Fire edge Orlando City 2–1

ORLANDO, USA – South African footballer Puso Dithejane continued his impressive start to life in Major League Soccer, scoring as Chicago Fire secured a 2–1 victory over Orlando City on Wednesday night, 19 August 2026.

Dithejane opened the scoring in the fourth minute, giving Chicago an early advantage. Orlando City responded through David Brekalo in the 56th minute, but the visitors regained the lead when Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty in the 68th minute.

The victory extended Chicago Fire’s winning run to six consecutive matches across all competitions, underlining the team’s strong recent form.

For Dithejane, the goal adds to what has been a breakthrough period since his move to the United States. The 22-year-old has increasingly become an important attacking option for Chicago Fire, following his standout brace against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup earlier this month.

The latest performance will be welcomed by supporters back home, particularly in Christiana and the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, where Dithejane’s rise from local football to the international stage continues to inspire young players.
