
A COVID-19 case was confirmed at John Frylinck High School, in Huhudi, on Tuesday, 01 September 2020. Learners, teachers and non teaching staff were turned back this morning on instructions by the Department of Basic Education to isolate at home while the school will be fumigated and deep cleaned.

In a Brief statement, issued by the school, through its Acting Principal Mrs Kai, on its social page, the statement has a reasoning narrative as to why the school population was sent back home. “Everyone must isolated at their homes until the 2nd of September 2020 which is tomorrow.” The statement said. All learners,Educators and Non-Teaching staff are expected report back to school on Thursday, 3 September 2020, this is as deep cleaning and fumigation will be taking place today and tomorrow.

The Vryburg Independent Post (The VIP) Team reaches out to the school for more information about the closure. Acting Principal Kai confirmed to The VIP Team that the school is indeed closed because of a confirmed coronavirus positive case. “The parents reported to one of the educators late in the evening that the learner is positive but he attended the whole day yesterday” Acting Principal Kai inform us.
