Along with the chance to showcase their projects and engage with top professionals in the field, learners will be competing for massive monetary prizes, including cash prizes of up to R75,000, and high-tech gadgets like laptops and tablet computers. These prizes are sponsored by companies such as Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, Siemens in Africa, Innomotics, South African Environmental Observation Network (Saeon), Ekurhuleni Drums, and many others.
Moreover, six full bursaries for engineering degrees, valued at over R3.7 million, along with numerous partial bursaries, will be awarded to top-performing participants. These opportunities open the door for learners to continue their education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), empowering them to pursue careers that can shape South Africa’s future.
The competition is expected to be fierce, with participants bringing their best research and innovations to the table.
A Celebration of Youth and Innovation
The Eskom Expo ISF is much more than just a competition. It’s a platform that enables young learners to explore scientific concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and address real-world challenges through research and innovation. This initiative not only nurtures young scientists but also prepares them to take on global challenges in areas like environmental conservation, sustainable technology, and health sciences.
These young learners from Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati have demonstrated their academic potential and innovative thinking, making the entire region proud. Their participation in the Expo reflects the growing importance of STEM education in our schools and the essential role it plays in preparing learners for a rapidly advancing world.
We wish the participants the very best as they compete on the national stage, and hope their contributions will inspire others across the region to follow in their footsteps.
