VRYBURG – A 28-year-old male, identified as Anele Pholoholo, has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old woman whose body was discovered in the Huhudi buffer zone a few weeks ago. The suspect appeared in the Vryburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 6 September 2024. Pholoholo was remanded in custody, and a formal bail application has been set for Monday, 16 September 2024.
According to Warrant Officer Van Rooyen from the SAPS District Communication Office, the 23-year-old victim’s body has been positively identified by her family, though the name has not been publicly disclosed due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
While the community remains concerned and eager for more information, law enforcement officials have urged patience, citing the need to protect the integrity of the investigation. Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone stated, “The investigating officer requested us to temporarily withhold certain details to avoid jeopardising the case. We can confirm, however, that a male has been arrested.”
The arrest brings some relief to the Huhudi community, which has been on edge following the discovery of the young woman’s body at the buffer zone, near an abandoned building, on Strydom Street, in Huhudi. This case has sparked discussions about the safety of the area, with calls for increased vigilance and safety measures.
