In a significant step toward enhancing education accessibility in rural areas, the North West Department of Education, led by MEC Motsumi, on Tuesday, 09 January 2024, visited and announced the partial handover of Saruchera Primary School in Vryburg’s Extension 25/28, also known as Colou Block, near Huhudi. According to the department, following their engagement with The Vryburg Independent Post Team (The VIP Team), this development marks a crucial milestone in the province’s commitment to improving service delivery and educational opportunities.
The school, named Saruchera Primary School, the says the Department, is a testament to community involvement and engagement. According to the department’s spokesperson, Mphata Molokwane, the community of Colour Block near Huhudi actively participated in the naming process, agreeing to honor the legacy of a progressive principal from the area, Saruchera. He says, the collaborative decision reflects the community’s desire to celebrate local leaders who have made significant contributions to education.”

The VIP Team has in on good authority that, Saruchera Primary School is set to commence operations on February 1, 2024, welcoming learners from Grade R to Grade 6. The decision to conclude at Grade 6 is rooted in a thoughtful consideration of the existing educational landscape. MEC Motsumi explained that other schools in the area already accommodate Grade 7 learners, and relocating them might disrupt their academic journey. This strategic decision aims to avoid unnecessary challenges for learners adapting to a new schooling environment.
MEC Motsumi, during her visit, emphasized the province’s commitment to achieving excellence in education. The partial handover of Saruchera Primary School aligns with this vision, setting a foundation for quality learning in rural communities.
