Huhudi Primary School Soil Turned in Extension 25

The MEC of Education in the North West Province, Mmaphefo Wendy Matsemela, accompanied by the Provincial first citizen, Professor Job Mokgoro, Premier of the North West Province, administered a soil-turning event in extension 25. This is where the construction of a school is expected to take place. According to the MEC, the construction will be commence immediately and will run for a period of 18 Months.

The young community of Extension 25, has been in existence for almost 10 years and will now witness the construction of a new school. The VIP (The Vryburg Independent Post) Team spoke to one community member in attendance, and according this father of 3, one of which will be starting his primary schooling in the next couple of years, there is a sense of jubilation amongst most community members to the news of the construction of a new school in their community. The gentleman highlighted that most kids currently walk long and dangerous distances to and from school. “The existence of a new school for the young ones is greatly welcome. The future looks bright in Extension 25 & 28.” Said the proud father of 3.

According to the North West Province’s Office of the Premier a local woman business constructor, in extention 28 in vryburg, will be heading the construction of the School. “The R80 million worth of infrastructure will consist of 24 Classrooms, an Adminisration block, a School Hall, Dining and Nutritional Block, Grade R Block, Library, Computer Lab, Change Rooms, Tuck Shop, Security House, Security House, General External Works with a Security Fence, Paved Parking Bays, Soccer Field and Combi Courts.” Said MEC Matsemela.

Persistence by community leaders is highly spoken of in the initiation of what will be “Huhudi Primary School” in their community. This is after many promises are said to have been made to these efforts. “This is beyond just the core goal of building an institution of learning for the extension 25 & 28 community. The next 18 months mean great potential for employment and skills development at their doorsteps. I think such initiatives have the potential to change the lives of this community and Vryburg at large.” Was the expression by Andrew Babeile, a Community Leader.

Babeile, in conversation with The VIP Team, alluded to the reality that the Extension 25 & 28, is not merely just a new community in Vryburg, but most importantly represents a new non racially divided community in Post Apartheid South Africa. He said such communities should be given an opportunity to grow into the hope they are in a democratic dispensation.

The two Provincial Officials were, on Monday, 02 November 2020, scheduled to not only to make an appearance at the soil-turning event but also at the Grade 12 final examinations pledge signing ceremony, at Vryburg Primary School.
