
267 new positive COVID19 cases were announced by the Minister of Health Dr. Zweli Mkhize on Friday, 24 April 2020, bring the total of all positive cases to 4220. Amongst these cases 1 new case is that of the North West Province, as of Thursday, 23 April 2020, which now has 25 confirmed Coronavirus cases.
Almost 50% of all cases in the North West Province are from Rustenburg in the Bojanala Platinum District. In total the district has a total of 17 cases, making it the epicenter in the province.
There still has not been any lives lost in the North West Province to the novel virus. On a national scale however, 4 new deaths were report by the Minister of Health. South Africa now has a total of 79 deaths to the Coronavirus. “We convey our condolences to the families of the deceased and thank our health workers who treated the deceased patients.” Said Minister Mkhize .
Be that as it may, President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday, 23 April 2020, announced a plan that will take effect on the 1st of May to look into easing the lockdown regulations and to gradually rebuild the economy, that has been on a standstill since the 23rd of March 2020 when the lockdown was announced by the President. The plan is a 5 level plan that speaks to the intensity of the lockdown based on scientifically analyzed conclusions.
As of Friday, 01 May 2020, South Africa will officially be on Level 4.
