Thapelo Tshisi Honored for Exceptional Service at Tiger Kloof Prize Giving Ceremony

The Tiger Kloof Combined School (High School) held its annual Prize Giving Ceremony on the 12th of October 2024, within the historic walls of its Arthington Memorial Church. It was a day of celebration, as parents and guardians gathered to recognize the academic, sporting, and cultural accomplishments of the students. Amid the lively rhythms of the marimba band, one name stood out in the crowd – Thapelo Tshisi, a Grade 12 student whose remarkable dedication and service were honored with the prestigious Round Square King Constantine Medal.

Thapelo, known for his selfless contributions to both the school and the wider Vryburg community, has been a pillar of support through his involvement in several impactful initiatives. Among his notable contributions, Thapelo has been a key figure in the Hem of His Garment Soup Kitchen, where his leadership has helped provide meals to the underprivileged. He also led the H.E.R. project, which provides essential items to children in need, showcasing his compassion for those less fortunate.

In addition to his philanthropic work, Thapelo spearheaded the clean-up of the Tiger Kloof Museum, preserving an important part of the school’s heritage for future generations. His commitment to the environment is also evident through his active involvement in the tree project, where he played a vital role in improving the school’s sustainability efforts. Furthermore, Thapelo has been a crucial member in assisting with international groups visiting the school, helping with planning and organizing various projects, a true testament to his leadership skills.

Thapelo’s award, the Round Square King Constantine Medal, is given to students who exemplify outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to the community, making him a deserving recipient. His tireless commitment to making a difference, not only at Tiger Kloof but also in the broader Vryburg community, has inspired many and set a shining example for his peers.

Speaking about his award, Thapelo humbly expressed his gratitude, saying, “This award is not just for me, but for everyone who believed in me and helped along the way. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to give back to a community that has given me so much.”

The Prize Giving Ceremony also honored other exceptional students, including Kiza Ruzeduka, who was awarded the Dux Litterarum for his academic excellence, and Lebogang Makgeledise, who received the Proxime Accessit award for her outstanding academic achievements.

The event, filled with joy and a sense of accomplishment, was a reminder of the school’s deep-rooted values of service, excellence, and community. As the ceremony concluded, attendees reflected on the school’s guiding scripture: “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11).

Tiger Kloof’s annual Prize Giving Ceremony once again demonstrated the school’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also leadership and a sense of service to others, with students like Thapelo Tshisi leading the way.
