Six suspects appeared before the Orkney Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday, 31 July 2019, for allegedly dealing in drugs and unlawful possession of ammunition (In contradiction with the Fire Arms Control Act: Act 60 of 2000).

“This court appearance emanates after members of Provincial Organised Crime and the Klerksdorp Technical Response Team (TRT) acted on information received. A search warrant was obtained and the identified houses in Khuma, near Orkney, were searched on Monday, 29 July 2019.” Confirmed Police Spokesperson in the North West Province, Colonel Adéle Myburgh.
Colonel Myburgh further elaborated on how a search warrant was obtained and that the identified houses in Khuma, near Orkney, were searched on Monday, 29 July 2019. According to Myburgh, 547 Mandrax tablets to the estimated street value of R30 085.00 as well as ammunition (several 38 special bullets) were found during the search. The police also seized cash, a Nissan Micra and seven cellular phones.
Mthobisi Hlongwane (24); Mzwakhe Hlongwane (27); Cebo Mazibuko (20); Ndumiso Khumalo (19); Nhlakanipho Khumalo (25) and Mpendulo Shabalala (21) were remanded in custody and will re-appear for their second court appearance on Monday, 19 August 2019.
