Today, Monday, 29 July 2019, a 32-year-old man appeared in Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court for his first court appearance in connection with the rape of  his girlfriend’s  11-year-old daughter. The suspect’s court appearance emanated from his arrest on Saturday, 27 July 2019, at Lonely Park near Mahikeng. According to information available,to the Police in the North West Province, at this stage the suspect was staying in the same house with his girlfriend and the 11-year-old victim.

“It is alleged that the mother of the victim found her boyfriend  naked on top of her child, when she woke up in the night looking for him. It is further alleged that the suspect drugged the victim with alcohol before rapping her. The mother reported the matter to the police and the suspect was apprehend and charged with rape. He is expect to appear at Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court again for a formal bail application on Monday, 5 August 2019.” Confirmed SAPS NW Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani.
