Honoring Pioneers: The Methodist CCYC’s Tribute to Connexional Leaders

At the recent Connexional Children and Youth Conference (CCYC) of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa (MCSA), a poignant ceremony took place to honor the exceptional leaders who shaped the Children’s and Youth Ministries from 1973 to 2021. The conference, held in 2024, recognized these individuals for their invaluable contributions as General Secretaries of Christian Education and Youth Departments and as Connexional Coordinators of the Children and Youth Unit.

Posthumous Leadership Recognition Awards were presented to several distinguished individuals:

– Rev. Enerst Nkathazo Baartman: Revered for his dedicated service as the General Secretary of the Christian Education and Youth Departments. His impact on the Children and Youth Ministry of MCSA remains a cornerstone of its development.

– Rev. Themba Mntambo: Acknowledged for his role as Connexional Coordinator of the Youth Unit, his leadership has been vital in shaping the youth ministry.

– Rev. Lindsey Hayward: Honored for his contributions as the Connexional Coordinator of the Youth Unit, his efforts have left an indelible mark on the ministry’s development.

– Rev. Dr. Moagi Sekhejane: Recognized for his influential role as Connexional Coordinator of the Youth Unit, his leadership has been pivotal in guiding the youth of the church.

– Rev. Luxolo Mantini: Presented with an award for his service as Connexional Coordinator of the Youth Unit, his leadership has been a beacon of inspiration.

– Rev. Simphiwe Mthembu: Honored for his dedication as Connexional Coordinator of the Children and Youth Unit, contributing significantly to the ministry’s growth and impact.
