
A primary school in Setlopo Village, in North West Province’s capital city, Mahikeng, has been shutdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak at the institution. Bakang-Selebo Primary School has on Monday, 22 June 2020, informed parents through a circular of the outbreak. In the correspondence, Principal Setlhatloso gave out an instruction for learner to stay at home until further announcements are made by the school that would indicate when schooling will commence again.

The validity of the circular was done the Department of Education in the North West Province. According to the Provincial Department of Health’s Spokesperson, Elias Malindi, this letter came out after it was realised that there was someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 at the school. “Therefore the department of health intervened urgently and the school was closed until further notice.” Confirmed Malindi.
