VRYBURG – Three men, aged between 21 and 42, are expected to appear before the Vryburg Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday, 8 July 2026, after they were arrested by the Vryburg K9 Unit for possession of suspected stolen meat.

The arrests followed information received by police about a white Fiat Uno allegedly transporting meat along the N18 Road from Dry Harts towards Vryburg. Officers responded swiftly and intercepted the vehicle near Huhudi, where a search uncovered a quantity of cattle meat in the boot. The occupants were reportedly unable to account for its origin, leading to their arrest.

Further police investigations have linked the case to the alleged slaughter of  without the owner’s knowledge. Police say investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The suspects face charges relating to the possession of suspected stolen property.

Acting North West Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, praised the Vryburg K9 Unit for their quick response, saying the arrest demonstrates the importance of intelligence-led policing in combating stock theft and related crimes.

He also urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activities, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime.
