On Saturday, 26 December 2020, the Naledi Local Municipality (NLM) has issued, through its social media communication platform, a stern warning to residents at the Municipality’s Extension 25 and 28.
According to the communique, residents are being discouraged from utilizing water from their taps. This is as the water is reported to have a muddy taste. “Due to low levels in the reservoir our water has a muddy taste, we therefore humbly request residents not to use water from our taps for drinking purposes.” Said the municipality’s social media communique.

NLM is said to have intentions of moving swiftly to ensure that tankers provide water in the area until water levels improve. The Vryburg Independent Post (The VIP Team) on receipt of this particular communique ventured on finding clarity as far as matters arising from the information is concern. The team therefore has approached NLM to ask for duration it will take them to distribute the tanker water around the affected community.
Furthermore, The VIP Team, from its efforts of keeping their ears on the ground, pick up a concern of Jojo Tanks maintenance. It seems to be a common concern that is, at the moment, bubbling under and seemingly not being officially addressed by NLM on record. We therefore saw it appropriate to put this concern to the municipality as well.

It is however unfortunate that at the time that this article was published, we never received any response for our efforts.
