Vryburg — In response to ongoing water challenges facing communities across Naledi, Mompati Mall has launched a free household water refill initiative, providing safe, purified water to residents at no cost.

The refill station is located next to the large silver water tanks at the mall, easily identifiable by the colourful artwork wrapped around them. Residents can bring their household containers—whether buckets, bottles, drums, or JoJo tanks on trailers—for refilling during the mall’s normal trading hours.

Free, Safe, and Accessible

According to Mall Centre Manager Heinrich Fortuin, the service is 100% free of charge and open to all households, with no proof of residence required and no daily limits per person or vehicle.

“The water comes directly from our purification plant, which is supplied by a borehole, ensuring it is safe for drinking and household use,” Heinrich explained.

Serving the Community

The initiative is aimed primarily at household consumption, with schools, clinics, and old-age homes expected to continue relying on their existing back-up water supply systems.

Importantly, there is no cut-off time or daily capacity limit, meaning residents can access water throughout the day without concern about shortages.
