The Wolmaransstad District Court, on Thusday, 20 June 2019, sentenced a 24-year-old, Naledi Margaret Kgopane, to 5 years imprisonment for the murder of a 31-year-old man.

“The sentence emanated from an incident in which the accused was arrested on 10 December 2017 after she stabbed her ex-boyfriend at  Extention 15, Tswelelang Location. It was reported at the time of the incident that the victim died after the accused stabbed him with a bottle while asleep at his place.  The accused was arrested after the matter was reported to the police.  Upon sentencing the accused, the court declared her unfit to possess firearm in terms of Section 103 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000).” Confirmed Captain Aafje Botma, Police Spokesperson in the North West Province.
