Vryburg, North West – 19 February 2025 – Activist group Force To The Revolution ✊ has officially submitted a memorandum to the Mayor of Naledi Local Municipality, Cllr. C.J. Group, demanding urgent intervention on several socio-economic and service delivery issues. The memorandum was presented at the Eskom building on Market Street, Vryburg, but no representatives from Eskom were present to receive it.
Key Demands in the Memorandum:
Job Creation and Economic Growth
The activists called for better support for local businesses and unemployed youth, urging the municipality to create opportunities for economic development.
The activists called on Shonisani Rambau Construction to appoint a minimum of 10 community members per ward, across the 9 wards in the Naledi Local Municipality demarcation. This is in relation to the electrification project Vryburg’s new residential extension, informally known as Polar Park. Further urging the contractor to employ at least 90% of local residents across the municipality’s demarcation.
“No Subcontractors from outside must be given ‘an’ opportunity”, the memorandum read, urging the contractor to appoint 30% of the sub contracting to local businesses.

Accountability and Corruption Allegations
• The memorandum alleges maladministration and corruption within the municipality.
• It demands financial transparency and independent investigations into alleged irregularities.
Concerns Over Shonisani Rambau Construction
The memorandum also raised serious concerns about Shonisani Rambau Construction, a company that has, allegedly, been awarded multiple municipal contracts in Naledi. Including the Electrification Tender that mentioned earlier on in this article. Force To The Revolution ✊ alleges that:
• The company has failed to deliver on several infrastructure projects, leaving roads incomplete and service delivery in crisis.
• There are questions about the fairness of the tender processes that led to the company securing contracts.
• Despite the poor workmanship and project delays, the company continues to receive municipal contracts.
Community members are demanding an investigation into Shonisani Rambau Construction and a review of all contracts awarded to the company.

The Mayor’s Response
The Mayor of Naledi Local Municipality personally accepted the memorandum but no Eskom officials were present to address the concerns related to electricity supply. Cllr. Groep committed to responding to the memorandum before the stipulated 7 days. The mayor appreciated the peacefulness of the community member’s demonstration as they marched across town. Mayor group further complemented Force To The Revolution ✊ activists as true leaders. Community members and activists expressed disappointment at Eskom’s absence, stating that their grievances regarding power cuts and billing needed urgent attention.
A representative from Force To The Revolution ✊ stated: “We expected Eskom to show up today because they are a big part of the problem. The people of Vryburg are suffering, and we need answers.”

What Happens Next?
The group has given the municipality and Eskom a deadline to respond with an action plan. They have warned that failure to address their concerns will lead to further demonstrations and legal action.
