Policewoman Arrested For Stealing Sheep

A 35-year-old police official was granted bail of R1000.00 on Thursday, 12 September 2019, after she appeared in the Brits Magistrates’ Court for charges of alleged stock theft.  The court appearance of Beatrice Mopai, came after she was apprehended on Tuesday, 10 September 2019.

“According to allegations, suspected stolen sheep were seen around Sonop Township outside Brits, by community members, close to where  Mopai stays. Moreover the police were alerted about sheep that were seen inside her kraal.  During police investigations, she was found in possession of four sheep. Furthermore Mopai could allegedly not account on how she acquired the livestock, and was arrested.” Confirmed Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani.

The case was postponed to Friday, 4 October 2019, for her second court appearance.
