Colonel Adéle Myburgh, of the North West Province’s SAPS, has reported alleged murder of Olefile John Leeuw (27). The 27 year old is reported to have been fatally stabbed by a 23 year old suspected who has now been apprehended by the Police as a suspect.
“The 23-year-old suspect was arrested for the alleged murder of Olefile John Leeuw (27) as well as for assaulting another man, believed to be in his thirties.” Myburgh said

According to information available at this stage, reports suggest the trio was involved in an argument that led to a fatal stabbing of Leeuw. Another man, who was also part of the scuffle, was admitted at hospital due to serious injuries he sustained. The incident took place at Lokgabeng village, Taung on Christmas; Tuesday, 25 December 2018 at approximately 05:00.
Myburgh has also confirmed that the matter was reported to the police who successfully traced and arrested the suspect. He is expected to appear in the Taung Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 27 December 2018 facing a charge of murder and assault with the intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).
“The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane commended the police and members of the community for working together to ensure that the suspects in both cases were arrested, shortly after the crimes were committed. She said police will continue through Safer Festive Season operations to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.” Myburgh said.
