North West Netball Mourns the Passing of President Kutlwano Moroole

NORTH WEST – The North West netball community is mourning the passing of its president, Kutlwano Harriet “Granny” Moroole, who passed away peacefully on 6 July 2026.

Tributes have poured in from across the province, with players, coaches, officials and supporters remembering Moroole as a passionate leader whose dedication helped shape the growth of netball in the North West.

In a heartfelt tribute, North West Flames described her as “more than the President of North West Netball—she was family,” praising her unwavering support, kindness and commitment to the sport. The team said her leadership extended far beyond the court, inspiring countless athletes and officials while leaving a lasting legacy throughout the province.

North West Netball also paid tribute to its chairperson, saying the organisation’s “hearts are absolutely shattered” by her passing. The federation described Moroole as “an absolute stalwart in North West Netball” and extended its condolences to her family.

Known affectionately as “Granny,” Moroole will be remembered for her warmth, compassion and tireless service to netball. Her influence touched generations of players, coaches and administrators, many of whom credit her with helping develop the sport across the province.

Circumstances leading to Granny’s death were not disclosed to The Vryburg Independent Post Team (The VIP Team) at the time of publishing this article. Funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family in due course.
