The Department of Education in the North West Province has confirmed Sixty-four new Covid-19 related cases. The cases according the department were accumulated between Monday, 29 June and Wednesday, 01 July 2020.
The Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District has the least cases of the 64 as compared to other districts. According to the department, the district breakdown include two (2) cases for Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, twelve (12) for Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, sixteen (16) Ngaka Modiri Molema and 34 for Bojanala district making it an epicenter for the provincial department.

This announcement by the department comes following a recent statement in which they confirm a total of 106 infections in the North West Province’s schools population. This brings the total number of positive COVID19 cases to 170, a 60% increase in 3 days.
One recovery of a learner who was lodged at a quarantine site has been confirmed.
Education MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela is pleased with the confirmed recovery of one learner by saying:
“This recovery brings a silver lining to the department as we continually monitor the wellbeing of those under quarantine sites. We are hopeful that more recoveries will come through. We remain hopeful and believe that the recovery numbers will increase exponentially”, Matsemela expressed.
Mine while, Vryburg Primary School, on Sunday, 28 June 2020, sent out a communique to its learners, teachers, and staff announcing a COVID19 our break at the school. Acting Principal Bonokwane has instructed all to isolate until further notice and while processes are underway.
The school has since been closed in an effort to spread around the school and those who use the facility.
