Here are some of the important points to make note of:

• Funding decisions for students who meet the financial eligibility criteria and received academic offer will be communicated in Jan once academic results have been made available to NSFAS.
• To date NSFAS has received 400 000 applications since 01 Sept to 02 Dec. A high percentage of the applications came from females with a 63%, while males made up 36% of the total number.
• The applicants should keep their cellphone number used for application. If you have changed your number, please contact NSFAS in order to update your details.
• NSFAS has embarked on outreach activities to encourage learners and out of school youth from across the country to apply and this included visits to community centres, shopping malls, High schools, door to door etc.
• progress has been made to process the disbursements- with R3.2bn disbursed to university and TVET colleges.
• this year alone, NSFAS disbursed loans and bursaries to the tune of R22billion and this amount is expected to increase next year to approximately R32billion, which is estimated to fund about 400 920 TVET college students and 377 050 university students
