Vryburg’s lunch crowd had a new destination on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, as Pedros Flame-Grilled Chicken swung open its doors at 161 Market Street. From 10am, a steady stream of customers flowed in—right on cue for the midday rush—curious to try the brand’s take on affordable, flame-grilled chicken.

Regional manager Ockert confirmed the store launches with 30 local staff members, including a management team of four led by senior manager Tumisang. “This is our first Pedros in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District,” he said. “Kathu is next, followed by Kuruman, so the Northern Cape will feel the flame soon.” The Vryburg outlet becomes one of eight Pedros stores operating across the North West.

Asked about Vryburg’s already busy chicken scene, Ockert was unflinching: “Pedros doesn’t see competition—so there is no competition,” he said with a smile. The comment reflects the brand’s wider philosophy: Pedros positions itself on people, value and consistency—“good food done right”—and has expanded rapidly since opening its first store in 2018 to more than 200 outlets countrywide.
