The Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District remains to be one with the least reported COVID-19 positive cases in the North West Province. Be that as it may, the Province has confirmed a new case in Taung, bring the total number of confirmed cases in the district to 4.

Amongst the 5 local municipalities in the district, the Greater Taung Local Municipality is the 3rd municipality in the district to experience the novel coronavirus outbreak. There has not been any cases confirmed in the Naledi and the Kagisano Molopo Local municipalities.

The first case in the district, of a 21 year old female, was reported earlier this month by the Department of Health in the North West Province as recovered. This one recovery is part of the 45 in the Province who have recovered from the virus.

19 new cases were reported by the province in the 24 hours that was. Now the province has a total of 162 positive confirmed coronavirus cases. On Thursday, 28 May 2020, the North West Province confirmed to have conducted a total of 10 871 tests. The Department of Health has also reported that contact tracing is under control at 90%, thats a total of 1074 contacts.

South Africa now has 30 967 positive confirmed coronavirus cases, 1727 of which were accumulated in the past 24 hours. “Regrettably, we report 32 more COVID-19 related deaths- this brings the total national deaths to 643” said the Minister of Health Dr. Zweli Mkhize.
