LEARNER SENTENCED TO 10-YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR HIS TEACHER’S MURDER

According to Police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone ,the accused was arrested on Thursday, 13 September 2018 for stabbing his 24-year-old teacher, Gadimang Daniel Mokolobate to death with a knife. The incident occurred in the premises of Ramotshere High School in Dinokana Village outside Zeerust. “It was reported at the time of the incident that Mokolobate was busy invigilating when the suspect who was a Grade 10 learner at the same school, got inside the classroom and stabbed him once on the chest. Mokolobate was rushed to Dinokana Health Centre where he was certified dead on arrival. Police were summoned to the scene and ultimately arrested the learner.” Mokgwabone explained

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane welcomed 10 years imprisonment that was handed down to a 17-year-old learner by the Lehurutshe Regional Court today in connection with the murder of his teacher. “The sentence will definitely send a strong message to the public including learners that those who commit crime will be dealt with accordingly.” Motswenyane pointed out.

Upon sentencing the accused, the court declared him unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000).
