In a field of over 20,000 participants at the 2025 Comrades Marathon, local athlete Olebogeng Thebe, representing Vryburg Multisport Club, has once again proven his mettle by delivering an outstanding performance — finishing the gruelling ultramarathon with a net time of 08:08:22.

Although this year’s time was slightly slower than his 2024 finish of 07:13, Thebe’s 2025 results were no less impressive in terms of rankings:

✅ Top 600 overall finishers

✅ Top 600 male athletes

✅ Top 115 in the senior men’s category

The 87km “Down Run” from Pietermaritzburg to Durban tested endurance and mental strength. For Olebogeng, who was cheered on by fellow club members, fans, and supporters from back home in the Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, it was more than just a race — it was a reaffirmation of discipline, training, and consistency.

Vryburg Multisport Club expressed pride in his performance, noting that Thebe continues to carry the club’s flag with honour on the national stage. “He remains one of our most consistent athletes. His ability to stay focused under pressure, and his dedication to long-distance running, makes him a role model for aspiring runners in the North West,” said one club official.

With this second Comrades medal added to his collection, Thebe solidifies his growing reputation in South Africa’s ultra-running community — and once again positions Vryburg as a town with elite sporting talent.
