With the IEC having released the 2019 elections results as free and fair, and the ANC continuing its reign in South Africa after winning the majority of the votes in the country and specifically in most provinces. The VIP would like to shed light on results closer to home in the North West Province :

From the 80% majority gained by the by ANC in 2004, the party saw sharp declines in its majority, evidently as they now stand on 61,87% in 2019. The EFF has however made great gains from their inaugural Provincial elections results of 13,21% in 2014 to 18,64% of the votes which enables them to sustain the official opposition position in the North West Province.
The DA followed just behind the official opposition in 2014, with 12,73% of the votes in that year’s election. Notably, the DA growth has taken a knock in 2019, as its voting percentages sees a decline for first time since 2004. From 5% in 2004, 8,25% in 2009 ,in 2014 at 12,73% and 11,16% in 2019.
The VF PLUS has however made great strides from the last elections in 2014 , growing from 1,72% to 4,32% in 2019. This growth by the VF PLUS comes at the back of what was for them a decline in voting percentages from growths in 2004 and 1999.
With the National election turnout at a decline , the North West Province contributed to such ,as the Province’s turnout stands at 59,45% this year. In 2014 the turnout stood at 66,32%.
