25-year-old Pogiso Modiboe who appeared in court this past Friday, 28 June 2019, and remained in custody, is expected to make his next appearance on Monday, 1 July 2019. Modiboe was arrested for alleged assault, rape and murder.

The arrest came after incidents were reported to the Coligny police on Tuesday, 25 June 2019. According to information at the police’s disposal, the suspect allegedly went to a farm on the Dupperspos Road in Coligny on Tuesday, 25 June 2019, at about 15:00 and assaulted 60-year-old Oupa Tatios Ndarala, who is the care taker on the farm. “He allegedly stole money, groceries as well as a bicycle and left the farm. Ndarala called for help and was admitted in hospital for the head injuries sustained during the assault. He was later released from hospital on the same day he was admitted.” Explained police spokesperson in the North West Colonel Adéle Myburgh.
“About an hour later at 16:00, Modiboe met up with Dimakatso Jane Ndarala, the sister of the first victim. Dimakatso was waiting for a lift into town, after visiting her brother. Modiboe allegedly raped her and killed her by assaulting her with a big stone on the head, leaving her body in a bush close to the road where it was discovered in the morning of the next day.” Myburgh continued to elaborate.
