Today 12 February 2019, seven accused, namely; Daniel Thameng (21), Christo Scholtz (24), Frederik Theodorus Scholtz (59), Frederik Theodorus Scholtz Jnr (26), Moholo Katlego (29), Thamene Abel Phogisho (29) and Modisaotsile Links (26) appeared in the Vryburg Magistrates’ Court for the alleged murder of Ben Molwele, aged 56.
According to the SAPS in the North West , the suspects’ court appearance emanated from an incident in which Molwele went missing after allegedly being kidnapped. The incident was reported at Stella police station on Tuesday, 17 January 2019, by his family members.

“According to information received, Molwele and two others were chased by farmworkers after being found inside a farm store. It is alleged that farmers were called after Molwele was caught. It is further alleged that Molwele was assaulted, put in a vehicle and dropped off along the N18 road.” Colonel Adéle Myburgh Reported.
According to Myburgh, following an intensive investigation, including a wide spread search by various police units, Molwele’s body was found at about 10:00 along the N18, approximately 20 kilometers from Stella on Sunday, 10 February 2019. Shortly after the body was discovered, police arrested the accused.
The VIP has also been informed that all accused have been remained in custody, except Frederik Theodorus Scholtz (59) that was warned to appear in court (due to ill health) until their next court appearance on Friday, 15 February 2019.
