The North West Province’s COVID19 testing rate has seen an increase to a 2% contribution to the national tally of tests done. Evidently, with the increased number of tests being conducted the number of confirmed positive cases have been seen to be rising. With 80 cases confirmed on Friday, 22 May 2020, in the North West Province, the Dr. Ruth Segomutsi Mompati District now has 3 positive confirmed coronavirus cases. A sharp increase indeed, if one was to consider the subsequent nature of the virus in the District.

The 2 new cases in the District that were confirmed by the Department of Health in the North West Province were allocated to Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality and Mamusa Local Municipality respectfully. This bring number of confirmed cases in the latter local municipality to 2, one of which is an active case.

The Dr. Ruth Segomutsi Mompati District has a total of 3 COVID19 cases. Due public interest about the the recently announced cases in the district, The VIP Team is working hard to find out basic details and additional information about the patient. We were unable to get a response from the Department of Health in the North West Province by the time of publishing.

The total number of COVID19 positive cases nationwide is 20 125 with 10 104 recoveries. In essence South Africa has 10 020 active cases. The North West Province now has 29 recoveries amongst the 80 announced cases.
