SANDF Patrolling The Streets Of Huhudi

Increased compliance contingency efforts by law enforcement in Vryburg was visible in Huhudi on Tuesday, 14 April 2020. SANDF Members accompanied the SAPS, boots on the ground, encouraging the community to stay indoors. The the deployment was seen walking the streets of the township and patrolling with motorcades in an organized fashion.

These are lockdown initiatives by President Cyril Ramaphosa to slow down the infection curve of the novel COVID19 in South Africa. “The measures we have taken – such as closing our borders and prohibiting gatherings – as well as the changes that we have each had to make in our own behaviour, have definitely slowed the spread of the virus. But the struggle against the coronavirus is far from over.” Said President Cyril Ramaphosa. The Disaster Management Act continues to be in place until the end of April as announced by the President.

Members of the community are calling for a consistent approach of these efforts. This as numbers continue to gather in the street right after the passing law enforcers. It is our responsibility as the community embrace all the regulations that been put in place and the call by our Department of Health to stay at home. Be that as it may, disgruntled members of the community remain vocal in their call for an improved delivery of essential social services not only during the Disaster Management situations, but should be on an ongoing basis.
