The Coronavirus has to date, 17 April 2020, infected 2783 South Africans, 24 of which are in the North West Province. There has been a great push by the governmental health officials to increase the number of tests done on a daily basis in South Africa. Over 100 000 tests have now been conducted, and the sentiments from concerned members of communities is that the testing rate is still on a low.

489 people have been tested in the North West Province for COVID19, if that number, 40% has tested negative, the 7% is awaiting test results. The number of people who have been reported to have recovered from the Coronavirus has also increased by 2 people.

The death toll in the country continues to grow, this is as now 50 people have lost their lives from the novel virus. No deaths have been report in the North West Province.
The MEC of Health in the North West Province Madoda Sambatha has confirmed that there is currently one patient in hospital and the individual is doing well.
