TNL Power Week 2 Wrap-Up: Flames and Tshukudu Fight On for Top Honours

SUN CITY — The second Power Week of the 2025 Telkom Netball League (TNL) wrapped up in thrilling fashion, with the North West teams — the Flames and Tshukudu Rhinos — showcasing resilience, heart, and serious intent as the race to playoffs intensifies.

After an inconsistent start to the week, the North West Flames bounced back to winning form, ending Power Week 2 with strong performances against the Jaguars and Aloes. The Flames’ standout 69-50 victory over the Stings was a statement win, while their nail-biting 54-48 win against the Baobabs showed grit under pressure.

Despite two tough losses to Crinums (42-70) and the Zambezi Eagles (62-64), the Flames’ attacking power remains their biggest strength, currently boasting the second-highest goals scored in Division 1 (546 goals). Their Top 4 spot is still within reach — and with three matches left in the league stage, the Flames will need consistency and a clinical finish to secure a semi-final berth.

Meanwhile, the Tshukudu Rhinos proved they’re not to be underestimated. A highlight of their week was the dramatic 46-46 draw against the Kingdom Stars — a match that displayed the team’s fighting spirit and refusal to give up, even under pressure. Tshukudu also clocked two crucial wins over Sunbirds (46-44) and KD Stars (48-46), pushing them firmly into second place on the Division 2 log.

With 19 points from 12 games, the Rhinos remain one of the most consistent teams, thanks to their dynamic mid-court link-ups and tight defensive setups. Their goal difference of +121 is the second-best in their division, making them strong title contenders alongside the log-leading Tornados.

With only a few matches remaining in the league phase, the stakes have never been higher for both teams. The Flames will need to push hard to solidify a Top 4 spot in Division 1, while Tshukudu looks poised to go all the way in Division 2 and possibly earn promotion.

Flames and Tshukudu supporters across the North West are rallying behind their teams as the final rounds promise more high-octane netball.
