MOROKWENG — Setswakgosing Secondary School learner Temogo Matong has been announced as the national top achiever in Quintile 2 during the official 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results release by Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube.
The announcement places Matong among the country’s most outstanding matric performers, drawing pride from Setswakgosing Secondary School and the wider Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district.

Matong’s supporters say his rise is also linked to the Mochwanaesi Foundation, where he was paired with a mentor and subject advisors. The foundation’s mentorship programme reportedly helped him work through challenges, stay motivated and remain focused on the goals he set for himself.
Quintile 2 schools generally serve lower-income communities, and Matong’s recognition is being hailed locally as proof that excellence is possible regardless of a school’s resource level—when learners are supported and remain determined.
The Department of Basic Education used the event to release the national matric results and recognise top performers across different categories.
