In an exclusive interview with the VIP team, Mr. Nelson Mongale shared his thoughts and reflections following his resignation as Director of Technical Services at Naledi Local Municipality. Mr. Mongale expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the department and acknowledged the various aspects of his experience during his tenure.

One of the key points Mr. Mongale highlighted was the limited resources within the department, which presented challenges but also opportunities for innovation and strategic management. He commended the wide range of management expertise at Naledi, emphasizing how much he learned from working with the dedicated team over the past four years.

During the interview, Mr. Mongale also expressed appreciation for the support and collaboration received from the political parties, council members, and the two main union structures, SAMWU and EMATU. He acknowledged their efforts in addressing various issues, even those inherited from the past, and emphasized the importance of collective action in driving positive change.

Regarding the community, Mr. Mongale noted the ongoing support he received, especially during his time as Acting Municipal Manager. He highlighted the potential for growth and investment in Naledi, particularly in areas such as Economic Development through the LED unit, agriculture, agro-processing, and related industries. He encouraged the municipality to continue exploring opportunities and partnerships to stimulate development.

Mr. Mongale also took a moment to express his gratitude to the leadership of Dr. Ruth S. Mompati District Municipality, including the executive mayor, councillors, and Municipal Manager, for their support throughout his tenure. He described the staff at Naledi as competent and acknowledged the collective effort and teamwork from the Project Management Unit (PMU) Office.

In a touching tribute, Mr. Mongale extended special acknowledgment and appreciation to the families of the late Mayor Neo Schalk and late COGTA MEC Kegakilwe for their support during his time in Vryburg.
