The Minister of Health Dr. Zweli Mkhize on Sunday , 10 May 2020, announced 595 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa, pushing the infection rate to over 10 000. “As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 10 015.” Said the Minister. With still just below 1% of the total cases in South Africa, the North West Province ,in the latest statistics as announced by the Minister today, was reported to have 4 new cases.

The North West Province Department of Health has confirmed that the total number of Confirmed positive COVID-19 in the province is now 45. The increased recovery rate of 23 now means that there are only 22 active cases in the province. Numbers in the Bojanala Platinum District continue to rise. The Provincial epicenter now has 32 COVID-19 cases. Be that as it may, the district also has one of the highest recovery rate, now sitting at 50%.

Not fatalities have been reported in the province, while to date 194 people have lost their lives to the novel Coronavirus. That is 8 more deaths in 24 hours. “We wish to express our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased and thank the health care workers who treated these patients.” Conveyed the Minister.
