
Eskom has, through a media statement, announced its scheduled load reduction plan in its various North West Sectors. The entity has advised its customers to switch off all their electrical appliances to avoid possible damage due to power surges when supply returns. The scheduled times are said to be between 5pm and 10pm, on Monday, 24 May 2021. Khuma Ext. 09 in the Klerksdorp sector is amongst those flagged on Eskom’s load reduction radar.
The Vryburg sector is made mention of as one of Eskom’s main areas where implementation of load reduction is expected kick in. Be that as it may, a specific sub section was to highlighted by the entity in its earlier statement.
Earlier on, in Mahikeng, community protests were reported to have prevented Eskom officials from attending to logged faults by customers in the Mahikeng sector. Eskom claims that the protests are due to alleged electrification of certain villages in the area. Roads affected by the protests included the Rooigrond and Vryburg roads.
”Eskom would like to appeal to the community leaders and members to allow its technicians to attend to all the loved faults .Community members who have issues with the electrification of new areas are encouraged to approach their local ward Councillors.” Announced the entity.
At 9pm tonight, the last hour of the scheduled load reduction roll out, a green alert was served by the power entity. The power grid is said to now be stable.
