Four Arrested in Bloemhof Drug Bust, Suspect Accused of Attacking Police Officers

BLOEMHOF – Four suspects have appeared in the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court following a police operation that led to the seizure of drugs and the arrest of individuals linked to alleged drug-related activities in Boitumelong.

According to North West police, members of the Bloemhof Public Order Police (POP) conducted a self-initiated operation on Thursday, 28 May 2026, targeting identified drug hotspots in Boitumelong Extensions 4 and 12.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three women, aged between 21 and 23, who were allegedly found in possession of illegal substances suspected to be mandrax and crystal meth.

In a separate incident during the operation, police arrested a 36-year-old man who now faces charges of assaulting police officers, malicious damage to state property, resisting arrest, and possession of suspected illegal drugs.

Police allege that the suspect attacked officers while they were carrying out their duties. One officer reportedly sustained a hand injury after being stabbed with a garden fork, another was bitten on the hand, while a third officer suffered a foot injury after being struck by a stone. A police vehicle was also damaged during the confrontation.

All three officers received medical treatment for their injuries.

The four accused – Naledi Rathebe (23), Masego Maseng (22), Kebuileng Itumeleng (21), and Mac Lawrence Mogolodi (36) – made a brief appearance in the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 29 May 2026. They were remanded in custody and are expected to return to court on 19 June 2026 for a bail application.

North West Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo praised the officers involved in the operation, describing it as an example of effective intelligence-driven policing.

He said police remain committed to intensifying operations aimed at disrupting criminal activity and ensuring the safety of communities across the province.
