Taung – The Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District education community is mourning the passing of Mothelesi Secondary School principal, Mr Moleohi John Semeri, who has been remembered as a dedicated leader committed to academic excellence and learner development.

According to a tribute released by the Office of the District Director, Mr Semeri served as principal of Mothelesi Secondary School from 2019 and played a significant role in improving the school’s academic performance during his tenure.

The district described him as a professional and committed education leader whose leadership contributed positively to curriculum delivery and learner achievement. Under his guidance, the school consistently achieved strong matric pass rates, including a 100% pass rate in 2021.

Records shared by the department show that the school maintained pass rates above 85% throughout his leadership, with notable performances of 96.4% in 2024 and 95.2% in 2025.

Colleagues and members of the education sector have praised Mr Semeri for his tireless efforts in ensuring both educators and learners remained focused on achieving excellence.

“The legacy he leaves behind will continue to inspire future generations and remain deeply rooted in the history and success of the school,” the statement read.
