Vryburg, N18 (Taung Road) — A minibus taxi overturned this afternoon, Sunday, 31 August 2025, on the N18 near the bend approaching Mompati Mall. Fire and rescue teams, along with police first responders, were on scene and cleared the immediate hazard.

The Vryburg Independent Post (VIP) has sent a media enquiry to SAPS for official confirmation on injuries, occupants, and case details. A response is pending. Eyewitnesses at the scene allege the taxi driver left the roadway to avoid a collision with another vehicle and entered the roadside waterway, causing the vehicle to overturn. Multiple onlookers claimed there were no passengers on board and that the driver sustained minor injuries. These claims are unconfirmed until SAPS provides official information.

Traffic in the immediate area was briefly affected as emergency services stabilized the scene. Motorists should continue to exercise caution along the curve near Mompati Mall. Drivers are urged to reduce speed on approach, keep a safe following distance, and be mindful of emergency vehicles.
