VRYBURG – The community is reeling in shock after another learner from Vryburg High School has succumbed to injuries sustained in the recent fatal car accident, bringing the total number of learner fatalities to three.

In a statement released by the school, on Saturday, 11 April 2026, it was confirmed that Grade 12 learner Enica Nombela passed away after being hospitalised since the accident earlier this week. The crash, which occurred while learners were travelling from Delareyville to Vryburg using private transport, had already claimed the lives of two learners and the driver.
The school described the development as heartbreaking, extending its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, friends, and the broader school community.
“Our hearts are broken. We stand together in grief and will continue to offer all the support we can during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, there has been a measure of relief as the fourth learner, Neo Mankwe, is reportedly recovering well after undergoing surgery at Milpark Hospital.
The tragedy has left a deep emotional impact on the school and surrounding community, with calls for continued support, prayers, and respect for the affected families’ privacy.
Authorities have already initiated psychosocial support interventions for learners, educators, and families, as the province continues to mourn the devastating loss of young lives.
