COVID-19 Recoveries on the rise in Dr. RSM District

The COVID19 recovery rate is steadily increasing in the North West Province and the country at large. 106 recoveries were recorded in the province and this brings the total number of the coronavirus positive active cases to 550. The Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District has also seen a decrease in active cases, according to the Department of Health in the North West Province. The district now has 2 active cases, this is as 2 recoveries were now recorded in the Lekwa Teemane Local Municipality area. The Municipality now has 2 active cases. Another local municipality that has recorded a recovery is Mamusa. This municipality had only one case reported, there for in essence Mamusa is again coronavirus free for now.

On Tuesday, 09 June 2020, The Provincial Department of Health noted the total number of recorded COVID19 positive cases in the Province as 604. This marked, for the first, a contribution of 1.1% to South Africa’s burden of disease. On Wednesday, 10 June 2020, this burden has again increased to 1.2%. “The majority of active cases in the Province are in Rustenburg and Matlosana local municipalities. Although there has been an increase in the number of confirmed cases in Dr. Kenneth Kaunda district, an increase in number of recoveries has been noted.” Said the Department.

Nationally, there is now a 56.8% recovery rate from the reported 55 421 COVID19 positive cases. Encouragingly, South Africa has more recoveries than than recorded cases.
