The ANC in the North West has received with profound sadness the devastating news of the untimely passing of Cde Ofentse Moses Mogale. Cde Ofentse Mogale passed away in the early hours of this morning following a short illness.
Cde Ofentse was a long-standing cadre of the movement, a committed and fearless activist who cut his political teeth in the civic movement. He belonged to an outstanding cohort of activists who gave impetus to the struggle following the unbanning of the ANC. Cde Ofentse was amongst a generation of young activists who led the Jouberton Civic Association in the early nineties.
He was a strikingly proficient organizer, a trait which earned him a place with in the ANC Provincial staff machinery as an Organizer between the year 1997 to 2000. He diligently executed this task, contributing immensely to the building of branches in the province after successful amalgamation of some parts of the PWV region, Northern Cape and the Western Transvaal into what is today known as the North West Province.
He went on to display his versatility to crystallize and unpack organisational policy positions as the Provincial Head of Policy Coordination between 2000 and 2004.
His profound understanding of the theory of the struggle and its application was later laid bare as he distinguished himself as a humble servant of our people who served the movement with humility, honour and dignity.

In 2004 he was deployed as a Member of Parliament where he served in the Portfolio Committees of Labour and Transport.
In 2010, Cde Ofentse Mogale was deployed to serve as the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, a position he held until the end of the municipal council term. He later served as a Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for finance in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipal Council between 2011 and 2016.
At the time of his passing, Cde Ofentse Mogale was serving as a councillor deployed at the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality.
The ANC will remember him as a disciplined cadre who upheld high moral standards and carried himself with absolute integrity. His passing coincides with the project of unity, renewal and rebuilding of the movement, a project for which he was fundamentally and irrevocably committed.
We convey our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and comrades. We sincerely thank them for his selfless service and commitment to nation building.
We wish them strength during this difficult period. May his soul find eternal peace.
