Shoplifters Arrested for Goods Worth R15 000

Three (Sabelo Dhlamini, Thandekile Zuma and Nokwanda Mavundla) possession of suspected stolen goods accused are expected to make their second appearance at the Zeerust Magistrate Court, on Wednesday, 15 January 2020.

Their recent appearance in court came after apprehension by two vigilant South African Police (SAPS) employees in the Zeerust Cluster. According to the North West Province SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Aafje Botma, the pair; a Constable and Chief Administration Clerk, were on the way to cluster office for administration duties when they spotted a suspicious Hyundai vehicle with three occupants; two females and one male on Monday, 6 January 2020 at one of the filling stations in Zeerust.

“The curious employees went to the vehicle where they found the occupants removing price tags from new clothing items. Thus, a search was conducted and six plastic bags containing shoes, school uniform, toiletry and bedding worth R15 000.00 were found.” Reported Captain Botma.

Captain Botma also confirmed that preliminary investigation revealed that the items were allegedly stolen from several retail stores in Zeerust.

The trio were remanded in custody after their first appearance in court on the 8th of January 2020.
