South Africa is mourning the loss of celebrated actor and theatre veteran Seputla Sebogodi, whose family has confirmed that he passed away on the evening of 15 July 2026 following complications related to diabetes.
In a media statement released on Wednesday, the Sebogodi family said they were deeply saddened by his passing and requested privacy as they mourn their loss.
Sebogodi leaves behind a remarkable legacy in South African television and theatre. He was widely known for his memorable roles in productions including Generations, Suburban Bliss, Bophelo ke Semphego, Redemption, and most recently Scandal!

Beyond television, he earned widespread acclaim for his stage performances in productions such as Big Dada, Waiting for Godot, The Rivonia Trial, Once a Pirate, and Mooi Street Moves, among many others.
The family said Sebogodi’s legacy will live on through his outstanding body of work and the countless lives he touched throughout his distinguished career.
