The Cluster Commander of Klerksdorp, Major General Suzette Pretorius, welcomed sentences handed by Wolmaransstad District Court to a 19-year-old accused, who was sentenced, on Thursday, 20 June 2019, to 5 years imprisonments for raping a 2-year-old baby.

According to North West Province’s Police Spokesperson, Captain Aafje Botma, it was reported at the time of the incident that the accused raped the baby at his place while the mother was away. The incident was reported to the police who arrested the suspect.

This case was presided over by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
