The Department of Health on Thursday, 28 May 2020, accounted with a break down of some of the demographics of persons infected and affected by the novel COVID19. According to Department, almost 15% of the of all the positive COVID19 cases are of the females between the ages of 30 and 34 years.

Females in general were recorded to have the most cases, with 15 693 cases (28 May 2020), while the males had 11 487 cases (28 May 2020).

Males in the same age group also top of the list of the part the demographics with the most cases of reported COVID19 in South Africa. 13.6% of Males of the reported totals were reported by the department. Interestingly, the male age group 35 to 39 years only has a difference of 7 cases between the previous age group, with 1558 cases.

Be that as it may, the World health Organisation (WHO) has been consistent with their message that “People of all ages can be infected by the new coronavirus (COVID19)”. WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus, for example by following good hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene.
