Vryburg High Limits Memorial Attendance to Learners and Staff

VRYBURG – The upcoming memorial service for the three Vryburg High School learners who tragically lost their lives in last week’s accident will be a private gathering, reserved primarily for learners, school staff, department and government representatives and other selected representatives.

According to a message reported to be circulated to parents, the memorial has been designed as a safe and controlled space for the school community to grieve, reflect, and support one another. Due to limited space and the need to maintain a calm environment, parents and additional family members will not be permitted to attend the memorial service.

The communication emphasised that the event is not a funeral, but rather a moment for the school community to come together internally following the devastating loss.

Meanwhile, the funerals of the deceased learners are scheduled to take place on Saturday, 18 April 2026. These services will be open to families, friends, and community members who wish to pay their respects.

School authorities have reassured parents that emotional and psychological support will be provided to learners during this difficult period, while families are encouraged to continue offering support to their children at home.

The tragedy has deeply affected the Vryburg community, with ongoing efforts to provide care and solidarity to all those impacted.
